Location
The loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) is one of the most significant marine inhabitants of Zakynthos and a symbol of the island’s natural beauty. Zakynthos hosts one of the largest colonies of loggerheads in the Mediterranean, with primary nesting sites on the sandy beaches of Laganas Bay. Every summer, from May to October, the turtles return to the island’s warm waters to lay their eggs in the sand. These beaches are strictly protected and have been designated as a National Marine Park to ensure the turtles’ peace and the species’ preservation. Happy Villa is located close to this bay, offering our guests the unique opportunity to observe these incredible creatures in their natural habitat, contributing to the protection of this remarkable and vulnerable marine ecosystem with respect and responsibility.
